The maintenance of production plants, over the years, has always played a marginal role in companies. With the introduction into the factory of technological tools and IoT solutions, an awareness was reached that a considerable amount of data could be intercepted by the field. A big stock of information on availability and failures are included within these data. When this information is inserted into machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and predictive models, then plant maintenance management begins to be transformed: it goes from a failure maintenance policy to a predictive and / or condition based maintenance policy. In this way it is possible to make interventions more efficient, reduce down time, increase the overall availability of the line and reduce maintenance costs.
